4.9. Root user and appadmin user#
The users root
and appadmin
are system users known in the
/etc/passwd
file of the underlying Linux operating system. These users can
be used to login the Appliance Management UI.
While the user root
can be used to login to the machine via console or SSH,
the user appadmin
is only allowed to login to the Appliance Management UI. Therefore
the user root
can change the password of the user appadmin
but the user
appadmin
can not change the password of the user root (except he can
provide the correct root password). Both the users root
and appadmin
are allowed to change the passwords of all the LinOTP token administrators.
